The Mollymawks

This month we have the Mollymawks flying in for what will be a great guest spot. The Mollymawks are an acoustic duo from Aotearoa playing original songs and tunes with a Celtic flavour.

The duo comprises Al Baxter on guitar and vocals and Emily Allen on fiddle. Their music has been played on National Radio, bFM and EastFM.

Al is originally from the UK where he frequented folk clubs on the East Coast of England. He arrived in Auckland in the 1990's and joined the Irish pub band scene playing banjo and guitar in bands with residencies on Queen Street. He writes and performs in both the Mollymawks and Hoop, who host the Ministry of Folk in Auckland.

Emily plays violin with Opus Orchestra and has toured with symphony orchestras internationally. She studied the violin in Aotearoa and in Oxford with the legendary violinist Kato Havas OBE. Emily's playing has since branched out into folk where she performs, arranges and records with Hoop, the Mollymawks, and with Bill Angus and the Mighty Ways.

This is a night not to be missed, so come along and join the friendly crowd at Rafters and enjoy the fine music.

Programme

The first half of the evening brings musicians old and new to warm us up before supper and our main guest/s. We welcome new performers. See Graham at the door if you want to perform, but you will need to be there before the 8pm start.

Photos and some videos of performances will be taken during the evening and displayed on our Facebook page. We also have a Rafters Music Club YouTube channel where we display some videos (type Rafters Music Club into YouTube search to find these videos).
